SRT rig - cord diameters

I've seen far more barrel knots worn down to the core, and tails that are basically non-existent, than I've seen people taking shock loads on cowstails. I've actually decided that the plastic-covered sewn terminations on my adjustable Petzl Connect thing are safer than knots for this reason - much more robust.

(well at least it _was_ adjustable, now the rope has fluffed up it's a nightmare to adjust...)

Incidentally, if anyone knows where to get ~5m 9mm dynamic rope lanyards with plastic-covered terminations, so I can cut them in half and use them to replace the rope in my Petzl Connect, that would be great :p (would give one fixed end with covered termination and one adjustable end with stopper knot termination)

PS Yikes to the EN1891 cowstails, blimey!

I just checked (it's in the bin now) and it I was too quick: it was a dynamic rope when I got it 20 years ago. So at least that was like it should be. But it makes sense to untie if one can be bothered.

Great input.
