hi

is it my imagination or did i hear of a rope that was static till over loaded at witch point the static strands of its core broke and it behaved much like the semi static rope that we know.

if this dose exist what is it called,  who makes it and what is it like?

if this does not exist then why is it not possible i would like some?

9mm would be preferred i am happy with only type B but  type A would always be excepted in preference

I have always been led to believe it is the sheath that makes the difference and not the core.

yes i think that right but i am talking about a rope with no stretch till about 5 or 6 kn where the non stretching fibres break  and it stretches like any other rope to absorb the shock.

i was looking at Spel. Gold it seems like the next best thing if i am just imagining magic rope.

but i have heard alot of people have sent it back as it gets tufts of core sticking thought the sheath.

is this still a problem with it or have they sorted it.

Yeah, I think that magic rope doesn't exist yet. :(

Don't know. I haven't noticed this problem, in my limited experience with Spel Gold.

I believe the problem was centred around a specific batch which under test showed no loss of strength so was not deemed to be needing replacement. Although, I may be wrong. I have 1 length of 30m which has never shown any signs of this.
