hurrah! they end is near, it was funny, very very funny, and the Hazel Nut Mendip news links to, and i am sure will be talked about for a long while. Interested to see how Bertie will get back without the culprits being spotted?! :confused:

I think they should set him up after a series of obsticals, then the BEC can get together a Mission:Impossible team and go rescue him!

Sad that after over 4 months since his disappearance, there is still no sign of Bertie being back at the Belfry...  :confused:

The finger, remaining fingers and both thumbs of suspicion have been pointed (mistakenly) at both Ed and myself for many many many many many (ad nauseam) moons now. Neither of us have the slightest idea who is behind it and hope as much as the rest of the people who give a toss about this non-joke that Bertie is returned, preferably two months ago but tomorrow would suffice.

The bat theives might have complained that our club girls are over weight but our bat made a 1/2 page spread on page 3 of the Wells Journal today.  The online version of the article is here:

He looks like he is being attacked from behind by Wookey staff and screaming to escape.  Yes he is now back on our lawn soon to be put back on the porch by Slug I expect.  He's a bit weather beaten since he left but otherwise in good nick.  The man who wrote the note around his neck has terrible handwriting but not bad enough to be a doctor me thinks.

Conspiracy theory pundits will have it that the cave management, the local press, and a caving club arranged the whole thing for a bit of publicity. It makes a change from rescuing animals from inside dinosaurs.  ;)
