I was hoping to come, as I was going to be caving in Derbyshire for the weekend.
But of a cock-up on dates (not by me!) has meant that I don't have any of my normal club to cave with that weekend. :(
Does any-one have a relatively easy trip going on in Derbyshire on Saturday, that they don't mind having an extra for? (My current fitness level [I've been working too hard in the office lately!] would suggest that I would struggle on a JH difficulty trip, but anything less should be OK)
If any-one can offer me a trip then please PM me.

Will the band be playing "The Hop" then?

I've never been to a Stomp before! A description would be appreciated. I'm assuming no dress code, plenty of beer, a bit of a dance, no food?
Would I need to pre-book camping?

Pre-book!?

If the beer that can be consumed on these things is... you won't care nor find your tent!!

Sorry to smash everyones illusions, but I'm tea total!

Growing up as a caving, rugby playing, young farmer I had plenty of opportunity (and encouragement), but I've not found a drink that I like!

On my stag night they had to numb my taste buds with a couple of weak Pim's and Lemonade, before they could move me onto the pints of optics and the like!

There will probably be no food available at the stomp so have your tea before you go !

Or nip in to Buxton for some chips :)
Or have something at your tent if you're camping !

No need to book camping, just turn up - c u there!

Good grief,

General caving piss up really. A chance for all of the local (and non local cavers - if they are in the area) cavers to get together, drink, bullshit, take the piss, yarn on and drink. Did I mention drink.
plus a band to have a bit of a lark about to on the dance floor to.

Dont let the drinking put you off though, There are usually some more sedate cavers there aswell.

Expect to find quite a few (myself included) very drunken Eldon members though. Its our AGM during the day - and there are usually a few pints sunk there so we've usually got a bit of a head start too.

:drink:

Please don't ever quote Robbie Williams on here again, or you're banned.

'Bout time you did something about that Sam T fella... renegade and trouble maker!

:p

Thanks for the offer - it's the only one I've had so far :(
I might end up going down to East Canal in Giants as a solo, unless anyone wants to come with me, or suggests I join them elsewhere.

Come on chaps (and gals) - there must be some one out in the peak to show dave a good time.

Problem is its the Eldon AGM in the afternoon so we're all busy - and I know quite a few of the other lads are a busy with an expedition meeting at that afternoon too.

You could always go and get involved with the DCRO exercise in Knotlow that day. PM Al in this site and see if he'd mind - might be fun. You could volunteer to be a victim and get hauled back out instead of having to jumar.

(Come to think of it - thats where the rest of the peak cavers will be. No wonder you've had no offers.)

True - and the Orpheus AGM is on Sunday... Too many meetings - not enough caving!

No chance! I've been pulled up the big pitch in Pouleva/Polnogolum (yes, I know I've not got the right spelling!) and I'd have to be VERY injured to allow it to happen again!
I'm tempted to observe the DCRO practice as my annual rescue practice is with drag stretchers in the confines of little holes in the Mendips, and theirs should be very different!
