Bagpuss. There is information on the caves, including some surveys; but all you need do really is walk down the slope behind the log-cabin refreshment shop at Symonds-Yat Rock. You can then spend a pleasant half day exploring all the caves as you follow the bottom of the cliffs south. The longest caves are in the area of the Longstone, or Pinnacle; a spike of rock separate from the main cliff. C7,8,9 and 10 are four entrances that all link up inside. A little further south, C3 and 2 have a voice connection. C3 is the longest. All of the caves have some interesting tight bits to add a bit of sport. Always be careful in the C2 and 3 entrances, as climbers look on them as convenient toilets sometimes. Bowlers Hole, marked on the 1:25000 map, is the nicest spot in the valley to eat your sandwiches. They do get a lot of use from outdoor groups, including me; but sport climbers leave far more litter. You could round the day off with a visit to Cross Joints Swallet, the Forests most challenging short cave?
