    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

"Private Property Keep Out".

Surely that's a default though, isn't it?

In which case no sign is needed.

(To be fair, though, there already IS a sign to this effect at Templeton). It's on the fence/gate. If memory serves it's "Keep Out/No unauthorised access", or somesuch. Elaine can clarify.

Therefore it looks like your argument has failed.

By the way paul, I hardly think its location is a secret you can see it on fecking Google Earth!

So anybody that sees it on Google Earth must have access to the internet...  :sneaky:

Presumably it would have to be a big sign so that you could not miss it. And it would have to be at the road end of the track. I very much doubt the landowner would like that. And also it serves as a nice advert to anyone who was previously unaware of the dig and potential mine of thievable goodies that might be (aren't) there. And there would also have to be signs either end of Dursdon Drove just in case people came in that way. No, nice idea but no.

Like Graham says it would be nice if people who were not aware of access arrangements, made sure they found out.

Signs do not work we have one in spider Hole hanging on an orange tape across the passage asking not to go beyond due to wet cement but it has been un cliped and left on the floor and others have even told us they have been for a look.  :spank:

Thankyou Elaine, and thats the nicest reply I've had so far. Well explained and I take your point.
I was not saying that those without web access could tresspass willy nilly, after all its only polite to ask!

Special note to hero Graham and moderator Chris, - Do you want newbies on this forum to practice free speech or not?
Luckily I'm made of sterner stuff but lots of potential forum members, after reading this thread and watching a fellow newbie getting slapped around the forum  by Moderators and Hero's; just may be put off posting at all!

Be nicer to the newbies guys..  I was merely adding a comment to the thread, and didn't realise I was poking old Bears!  :D

I'd like everybody to be able to practice free speech.  :)

Including me.  ;)

In all fairness Dugadog, Elaine was mearly notifying the caving community of recent events and to be mindful, and I am sure that she was not trying to stir up a lengthy debate over signs etc.

Don't be to put off if others do not sometimes agree with your views, as this is what generally makes a good debate.

If we all agreed with each other and took the same view on topics it would be terribly boring :)

Stu.

What on earth are you on about? Of course you can have an opinion - it's a forum; of course you have freedom of speech - your posts prove that.

What on earth are you on about me slapping a newbie? Where have I done that?

What is your issue? Are you odd or special in some clinical way?

P.S. Welcome to the forum DaD  :)
It can be a bit mad here.

Not so much odd as unusual, though the right side of normal (according to my last diagnostic).
Thanks for another patronising comment though, Cap'n Chris!  SLAP!  :coffee:
