Thinking of hanging up your fins. Never say never again.

I agree that no.10 in your list is not very clear. Aquamole Aven is just the last pitch to the sump, climbed by Geoff and Watto etc i think. This led them more to the One Armed Bandit series. I'm not sure how far up the other route they got but Rupert and Martin certainly bolted up what is now the 60m entrance pitch and maybe the short pitch before. Give Geoff a call.

I thought Watto and company climbed the avens at the back of the sump chamber and explored the One Armed Bandit Series. I don't think that the route to the current entrance was spotted until the main aven had been climbed by Rupe and friends .

I'm happy to be proved to be wrong, though.

I think that is what I was trying to say. First part anyway...

I suggest Keith speaks to Geoff direct to clear that and a few other points up. We were amused to consider that you retire from diving and then go diving :)

As someone who is still in the ‘sport trip’ phase of my caving career, the idea that a route of this magnitude just gets ‘spotted’ is incredible. 60-80m vertical pot which was presumably mostly open until it got close to the surface?

Does make you wonder how many more of these may exist on the diving route up kingsdale and anywhere else for that matter.

I’ve read the ‘new pot into aquamole’ article in descent at some point. That has some good info in it if you’ve not already seen it Keith.

Thanks again everyone for your contributions - all good stuff. I've now got a copy of the Descent article. I will re-write the Aquamole stuff and run it past Geoff.

The film of Geoff's dive is now taking shape, although it will be several weeks before it sees the light of day.
Meanwhile I'm looking for:
  • Some video clips of Rowten Pot.
  • Photos of Alan and Dave Brook, Bill Frakes and John Ogden.
Obviously anything I use must have copyright clearance and full credit will be given.
Thanks in anticipation.

Keith
