People tend to underestimate how much time is saved by simplifying procedures. It might be 5 seconds on a good day, but 30 seconds on a butterfingers faff day.
Fewer openings of the carabiner also mean fewer chances to drop your expensive toy down the pitch.
Anyway, I tried this at the weekend and for me, it felt like the difference between being getting out the Traxion on a shortish pitch, and not bothering because it's too much faff. I might even try storing the Traxion open for derigging.
