One very cold winter, I was one of four, some of whom (1) wanted to do all of Pennyghent Pot, none of us had even been to the entrance before.
The snow drifts were nearly six feet high on the walk to the cave, which was somewhat offputting.
It was like a nuclear winter without the nuclear bit.
When we got to the entrance, I bottled it and said let's save this beast till the weather improves.
The others continued, I went back to the volvo for a kip.
Then the freezing fog came over.
It was so cold, I was concerned for them, eventually they returned, I think they gave up at the third pitch, frozen.
They were gibbering idiots, I had to get their clothes off for them.
So a good introduction for beginner s.r.t.ers, would not be Pennyghent Pot in a snow blizzard/freezing fog. :yucky:
