Underground Wales On The Telly

Bringing the Croesor-Rhosydd through trip to a wide audience should do wonders for future access, never mind giving NWCRO the occasional outing...  o_O

On the plus side, there is quite a long walk to get to it which should thwart the average souped-up nova/astra type.

I watched the program last night and thought it was excellent. A very high quality piece of TV. I particularly liked the very smooth tracking shots down the OFD streamway.

My wife got fed up of my running commentary pretty quickly ("That chamber's only about a two minute walk from the entrance" - after they'd show Iolo crawling, squeezing and abseiling his way to Big Chamber in OFD, "That's Swap Creek", "Ooo look, it's the Long Crawl", etc.) and told me to shut up and just watch it!

The first program was an introduction to the series and told how the landscape in Wales had formed. It also contained some of the underground shots shown last night along with superb shots of the above ground landscape from all over Wales.

Nah. I heard that argument when I started publicising the Mines of Gwydyr 15 years ago on my website. Never happened, and now look how much information is publicly available from ones armchair.

Most salad-dodgers won't go near places like that, sorts the men from the boys.

Excellent program.
But why the necessity to exaggerate the trip from Entrance to BCNTE.
If it inspires more people to visit caves and mines, so much the better.
Safety and competence were emphasised repeatedly.
I think vanoord's fears unfounded and somewhat elitist.
