You could always have a quick dig - see if its just a small blockage - take a crowbar with you!!

You might be best first speaking to someone like Roy Holmes or Pete Allwright - they would know if the "blockage" is natural or whether it's an expression of the landowner's desire to discourage cavers. You'll probably not find anyone more expert on Dentdale caves than these two people.

Have you a contact email or something of the sort.

Pete is the Secretary of the British Cave Rescue Council; I guess there's a contact for him on the BCRC website.

If not, P M me.

Upper Hackergill, this photo of me was taken the day we conected to Ibeth Peril 2 .Cant say what the state of the entrance is ,the landowner was believed to have stopped access so we used to walk up the stream from the roadside in order not to be seen .Im surpised that you can get in as IIRC there was  twoentrances with lovely big stream way eventually getting lower and lower.I would not be surprised if the bit where we connected was blocked as it was a natural bottleneck for flood debris.

The through trip from Upper Hackergill to Ibbeth Peril 1(or 2 if you want a bail out) or Broadfield Cave was fine back in the 90s if you like crawling. No idea now. Check Upper Hackergill and/or Broadfield Cave entrances if you intend to start from the Ibbeth Peril end (obvious place to park).
