Wanted - Spare/used rope

Hi,

Does anyone have some spare rope they would be willing to give away to a charity local to the Dales? This is so that we can use it to make rope swings during forest school sessions. The forest school is for local kids experiencing vulnerabilities (ie. mental health challenges, young carers, social services, etc) and their 3 hours of forest school a week is a really valuable time for them to get away from stressful school/home situations and build confidence out in nature. So I'd be very grateful for any donations!

Used / old rope is fine as long as it appears to be in decent nick (I will do a personal rope inspection anyway). So sheath intact and no cores showing please, I know what some of you diggers are like ;p

I have some old climbing ropes (9mm and 11mm) sitting around. Also some old caving rope which might be suitable for you? We're planning to be in the Dales this Friday for a walk (not sure where but probably in the Ingleton/Clapham/Settle area).

I could certainly give you some old caving rope. I think I have 20m, 25m, 35m & 75m at least that you could have. Probably a few others too. They're not really suitable for caving anymore, but are all perfectly safe. Happy to drop them off in the Dales.

Do you need any other kit for this group? I certainly have unused stuff I could donate to a worthy cause.

This reminds me, I also have a rope bag full of tapes and krabs which are old and unwanted. I inherited them years ago and I doubt if much of it has been used let alone been underground.

I can sort you out with some - can easily drop it off at work for you.

What lengths would be optimum?

You are a member of two why not try asking them !

Found a couple of decent lengths of rope for you; hoping to drop theme off where you work this afternoon at some stage.

There are now two lengths of rope, totalling (a guessed) 70 m, in reception for when you're next in work.
Both were recently retired from caving just on age grounds; nowt visibly wrong with them.
