Lots & lots of interesting stuff getting posted...
I'm looking for anyone who has any triads for sale. They haven't been made for a long, long, long time.
The first version was the "bollard" but due to their round shape it was found that too much friction was being created between the plat and the rope so they changed the design to a triangular shape, slim at the top, flared at the base, hence the name traid. This is very different to the petzl clown which doesn't seem to sit very well at all. All three are designed for karabinerless rigging on spits, using just your rigging rope which is different to the "amarrage souple" which can be rigged karabinerless with the use of 5mm dyneema.... (as stated by Pete K, these can be purchased from Tony as he drives around the country selling caving kit out of his van or by visiting his website, www.starlessriver.com)
I would really like to find some triads, replace the bolts on them if I can or maybe even get some made, but first I have to find someone who is prepared to sell me some. Rigging on triads is very very nice.. I need to stop borrowing other peoples and find my own. So is there anyone out there who has some they no longer use?
