How many do you need? I have a pile of rusted up ones. The ones I am using I soaked a few days in Diesel and then wound them in and out with an air gun and an oil can. They work fine now. there's still about 20 or more of various types in the box. They are all 90 degree joiners though as I am using all the variable angle ones. 10 miles from Abergavenny if you want to collect for price of a few beers.

50/50 engine oil/diesel works better I've found.

Does liberate equate to theft? Is this legal?  ;)

Well...
If you want to argue semantics I suppose it could be construed as such.  :-\
It is only illegal if you get caught.

I've been walking to work past a load of high rise building sites over the last few years.

Any clips that fall outside the big metal fencing are fair game I reckon - i.e. just lying on the public pavement. (this happens quite a lot when they tip a big pile of clips up against the fence. )

Would you think the same if somebody waltzed off with your car/caving kit if left in a public place?

Finders keepers, officer?

I suspect scaffold clips have a fairly short shelf life in HSE terms, so a quick visit and chat with some scaffolding companies, and an offer of just over scrap value should yield plenty. (Only a supposition).

Just head down to a big site with a case of beer late in the day and you can walk away with anything you want, just about

The major house builders do not own the scaffolding, but subcontract that out to a scaffolding company.
