Warmbac sizing

This post was prompted by the discussion in the diving section re neofleece suits. While I love Warmbac kit & have used it for about 20yrs., doe's anyone else think that their over suit sizing is a little odd? The legs seem too long and the body short, to the point where it presses on the shoulders & gives you a playfull nip in the groin, - also the zip seems a little too short so you can't get your arms in easily. I know I'm a bit of an odd shape for a caver but me buddies think the same & they aren't quite so odd!

Get yourself down there and let them loose with a tape measure. AFAIK it doesn't cost anymore.

AFAIK there is a wide variety of sizings with a variation in body length as well as in girth. I fit one of the standards (fat bastard, I think it's called) but t'wife always goes to Warmbac & has them made to measure.

I have the opposite problem to Shotlighter. I find that to get the length I need I have to buy the large size which is big enough to fit two of me into! And the crotch is somewhere round my knees! I have to wear a belt to keep all the surplus material folded out of the way. Even the large size doesn't quite have long enough legs. Hughie very kindly had me an oversuit made with extra leg length though he overdid it a bit getting them to add an extra 6 inches!

My oversuit is fine, although the undersuit necks are too tight!

I've been suffering from a bit of the same (self castration through arm lifting, bending over, etc) with my oversuit.  I'm 5'11" and not very round at all, so went for a large.  When the suit is stiff with dry mud, trying to cram myself in I do wonder if i've picked up someone else's buy mistake.  They loosen up after a few mins moving about.

I think I'll simply consider trying on an XL when I buy my next one - but worried it might be too baggy.  I wonder if they need a minus size as well as a plus, i'd consider an XL-  suspect this isnt commercially viable though....

I also have a neofleece, size 42 i think.  Fits perfectly.

Hughie - I'm intrigued by your suggestion, i hadnt even considered the possibility that they do them "tailored" !

As Graham has said - Warmbac will make to measure. Oversuit, fleece, neo or wetsuit (I presume). They're based at Glastonbury, admittedly local to me, but not far from Mendip.

I can imagine if you can measure yourself (or get someone to help you!) you can order over the phone. Probably worth a call to save a drive.

Thank you Lady & Gentleman for your replies, I didn't realize Wambac did a "bespoke tailoring service"! I must admit my current suit is in the  XXL size, so the real answer is to lose lots of weight, but that won't entirely solve the short body/short zip problem (this is agrivated by a very arthritic R shoulder which makes getting me arms in & out a bit harder).
Maybe I should combine a fitting with a trip to Mendip - I've never caved there but you guys seem to derive a huge amount of fun from what I'd previously thought to be a quite limited area, this can't be bad!!!

It's easy to order over the phone. They have made me most of my kit made to measure and it's more comfortable and lasts longer. I think most stockist of Warmbac can make a special size request on your behalf.
