Warning, Hillocks bad air?

Today, 26 April 2025, a friend had a trip into the oil drum entrance around 6pm. They had to abort the trip due to thick acrid smoke in the main chamber/ before the climb down to the cross cut. The high CO2/ low oxygen may "settle" into the lower levels without the tell tale smokiness. No indication of the origin of the smoke, or when it was generated.
Forewarned is forearmed. Take care folks

Never heard of smoke pollution in hillocks before however I have occasionally heard of bad the climbing shaft entrance to the system?

The smoke in the addit was definitely wood smoke so God knows what these Muppets were thinking when they decided to light a fire underground 🙄

Having a go at fire-setting?
Quite possibly 😄
Didn't work out so well at Redsoil / Magpie, but hopefully not as fatal here. I know many have camped out in the mine, but I guess a sing song round the fire wouldn't have been much fun...

A return trip this Saturday (3-5-25) found the entrance chamber to have good air. A couple of burnt sticks were found but no "hearth" as such. The cross cut was not visited.
