Untrue Fulk, I was trying to be helpful. Looking back I suppose my reply was aimed more towards Molerats question but as Susie had been up to the reservoir and took notice of water levels at the dam and as she's looking at and replying to specific questions on a caving forum about water levels in Nidderdale I assumed (wrongly) that she was doing her homework and was planning a trip into a nearby cave.
Now, As the Black Sheep Diggers have several ongoing digs in the Goyden System they need to and DO understand how rain and wind affects the caves. Very experienced guys so I was merely pointing little miss knickers in a twist in their direction

I'm happy to accept that you were trying to be helpful, but I do think that it is better to answer the question that the OP asked, rather than questions that you think that other people would like to ask which confuses the thread.
I had been up to the Reservoir the day before but I was taking a walk with my dogs, not planning a trip.
I have been going down the Nidderdale caves for several decades now, so I am reasonably aware of their peculiar flood hazards - to the extent that with the current water levels and variable weather I would check the reservoir just before going down rather than the day before.
I am also aware of the work that the Black Sheep Diggers have been putting into the system for many years, and I applaud them for it, and for their many successes. I am also very happy for you that you were able to help them in their pursuit of a lower route between Goyden 1 and Goyden 2 last weekend.
In my opinion, it was clear from the wording of Molerat's question that he was also aware of the nature of the possible flooding in the system.
I regret very much for having upset you so much that you felt it necessary to call me names, and I apologise for having done so.
