westwood quarry filled entrance

does anyone know much about the entrance down the lane between westwood road and upper westwood? i went a little way inside but it seems to have been filled with rubble. on some sites it says the entrance collapsed but you can clearly see that workers have been in there and filling it in and have used blue tarp running along the inside like a tunnel. any ideas?

This sounds like the old slope shaft - The MCRA place it here

I have not been over there since last summer (when Bethel was open) - rumours were that 28D were in Westwood before christmas (probably through the main entrance)

So I have not seen the blue tarp. However in the summer Hanson had posted a similar warning sign to that put up in Box.

The slope shaft is blocked part way down by clay from strata that has forced itself through the brick passagewall and over many years this clay has descended to the bottom of the slope shaft. So the slope shaft is full at least halfway with clay.
