Does 8-9years ago class as recent? :-\

I would guess that cave and the other little bits nearby are not often visited owing to their location..

We got to more or less the end (as described in NC3) - we found a decorated bit and a run-in from an aven and a dig (possibly).. Don't recall seeing "The Hodder Fodder" - but I don't think we were concerned about missing out on that gem ;)

Had a trip there last night but didn't get very far, looks like it has changed somewhat, would be interested to hear from anyone who has been there in the last 12 months

Shame, despite being short it made for a pleasant evening trip!
How far did you get; did you - clamber down entrance into sloping passage? Down a short drop that lowers to a crawl? Down a 3m drop into large passage?

CJ - talk to Beardy next time you see him.

Hope you're not working too hard at the moment!

Got to be fifteen years ago or more. I seem to remember on the way out we decided that the description just about agreed with the cave!

Nice little place, hope it hasn't been damaged.

We went down the entrance slope and found an area of collapse, with a jumble of varying sized boulders, soil, tree roots and animal feed bags, there were 2 ways on from here both rather small but very loose, decided not to go any further as didn't want to cause any further movement and bloke the exsit. Trying to workout how old the collapse is.

Thanks Pitlamp will ask him. Work is slow mid week and manic on weekends, doesn't leave too much time for caving.

There's never enough time for caving . . . !
True, unfortunately.

Diggable?? Is anyone digging it or planning on doing so?

Hello Ally
The CNCC Minutes of 18 January reported that the entrance to Whitewell Pot was in need of stabilisation work. CNCC would pay for materials.

....Does that mean they will pay for materials for Whitewell Cave as well?
Whilst on the subject of materials and costs etc; has any money ever been made available for Barbon Pot and it's huge unstable pile of rusting sh** at the entrance?

Whu not contact the CNCC and see what help they can offer?

Andy's got some fine photos of some very frightened looking Red Rose members disentangling the debris blocking the 20 m shaft directly underneath them.

I haven't seen the CNCC minutes but the reference to Whitewell Pot must refer to my raising of the subject on Jan 19.  My concern is that although we have an agreement between CNCC and the Land Agent and get permits for Whitewell caves (including Whitewell Pot), the Land Agent doesn't appear to be aware that the "keeper" has put a sign up saying the cave is dangerous and access is not granted.  I am afraid that we will lose this cave if something isn't done but I didn't actually have a plan when I raised the topic with CNCC.  I'm encouraged by the responses to  Ali's question and am keen to talk to anyone interested in helping to secure the entrance to Whitewell Pot or push any of the other caves on Hall Hill.
