Top banana trip with RM yesterday. what a wonderful cave - a bit of everything - squeezes, stomping, pretties and pitches!

Does anyone know where the stream that falls down the main pitch series goes?

Couple o'things to mention:

At the top of the second choke one of the very big rocks appears to be moving a bit - some fresh cracks around it and suspicious clean rock where it touches its friend. As one of the routes into the choke goes underneath this and it would make you say "ow" if it dropped on yer toe, prob worth looking out for it and going another way.

There's also a lot of knacked rope in there (all in piles at the bottom of the up pitches). RM and I shifted some down from further up the pitches and hoiked out a very old ladder; if people could stuff a bit of old rope in a bag (or even just move some a short distance) on their way out it'd be good to get it moving outwards. It it's your ladder, let me know and I'll gladly return it - SamT I assume you dropped it off the up pitches?

Cheers

Down 3 pitches (rigged on manky spits) to a sump. Think this has been dived a short distance but is choked. Water re-appears in Speedwell - but I cant remember if its main rising or whirlpool.

hmm - is it just on the right hand side as you get to the choke - up against the right hand wall.

I normally drop in to the choke right at the very back, just by the back wall. It seems like the the best way in and actually skips out quite a bit of crawling about under loose boulders.

Err - def not my ladder. As I recall - its all tangled up just beyond the sewer. Its been there years and wants binning.
Agreed that the rope could do with pulling out.

There are various bits of digging equipment around the stream pitches that could do with leaving in place.
IIRC there is bang wire, polysheets/bivvy bags, crowbar, bits of scaff etc.

Having not been through before I couldn't place it exactly, but the route we took out of the choke avoided it and did cut out quite a bit of crawling under boulders, so could well be your route. No intention of nicking all the digging gear  ;)
