My Old Speleo Technics nova keeps flickering/ changing light levels every time i knock/move my head. o_O
I swapped my Ion battery and lead for my FX3 battery and lead now all seems well so I assume my short Ion Lead is Faulty.
Dose any one have a spare one they can sell me?
Can they be bought new anymore cheap enough?
Is there anyone out there who is happy to pull apart and repair this kind of thing?

I thought 'flickering' was par for the course with all speleo-technics stuff, an in built 'feature' if you like.

My disdain for the quality of the S-T connectors is well documented in the archives of this forum. Tinkering is your only solution, I strongly suspect a new lead will make no difference in the long run. The fundamental design of the battery connectors, with the two male pins and female sockets is, IMHO, shite. Always was, will always remain so.  stout Speleo supporters will no doubt offer a whole range of 'tinkering' avenues mostly involving a pen knife.

I also had this feature.

I inserted a small screwdriver into the female end of the connector and closed things up a bit, this solved the problem. Since then I have always used electricians tape to to tape the connector to the battery. This stops the connector  flexing

This seems to have solved the problem, but is a faff every time I recharge.

I think you guys are right   I found the cable has a split in the outer Sheff after removing some tape which i thought may have been the root to the problem. :-\

I held the plug firmly in to the Battery and gave the cable a wiggle and there was no change ;) , I gave the cable a wiggle without holding the plug and had a Disco :(

Thank you. problem solved
