Working at height on Salisbury Cathedral

She is a sky diving instructor and was attached (tom cruise and will smith - latter obviously tied on - have also been there & Alain Robert climbed it):

If you like watching videos of people working at height without rope access gear, I can recommend both these videos. Definite steeplejack vibes

Short video from 1950s about pylon erectors

30 minute BBC documentary from 1997 about pylon painters
I remember the Silvering Up one. Painting the pylon, get to ground and wash off with a bucket of thinners. Different breed those lads.

Abseilers on the Burj Khalifa. Only half way up, about 400m. What a job.

Hilarious they made them all wear black clothing in that weather - I guess there might be a slight breeze up there. And probably unlikely some rabid old granny will lean out of a window threatening to cut your rope with the bread knife :ROFLMAO:

According to a study titled “Why do Bedouins choose to wear black despite living in the hot desert?”, researchers found that the key lies in the thickness of the clothing, not just the color. The outer layer of fabric gets hotter because the black color absorbs more heat. However, this heat does not reach the skin due to the thick fabric, so the Bedouins prefer thick clothing, whether black or other colors. They also found that black clothes work well in the sun if they are loose, and do not cling to the skin. The idea is that black clothes heat the space between the fabric and the skin to enhance the upward air current when a person experiences a good breeze of wind, which enhances the feeling of coolness and hydration.
Not that the 2nd bit will work in a harness!

Hahaha, I stand corrected. At least they'll probably be wearing natural fabrics, rather than our hi-viz polyester. We got mistaken for bin men the other day by a client due to that - the shame :cautious:

A friend of mine actually did have his ropes cut by someone on a block of flats. Luckily he was above the cut, but they didn't look before they cut them.
