Good " noisy " trip to Jill's Slither today. Home by 1pm to play football with grandson. The caving was easier.

So the 22nd is Flickr changeover day. Lets hope the URL codes remain working.

Well today is when Flickr migrates to another home so fingers crossed that the URL code links remain.

Yesterday was The Frozen Deep trip with a new member of our little team. I wanted a few on the move images so kept the set up simple. It was a long day as we had spent an hour at Vurley and I needed to recover the drill from Jill's dig. Photos were all with hand held Yongnuo slave mostly one sixteenth on 25mm as I just wanted large shots to emphasise the scale of the place. Its handy to pre set the flashgun when in a hurry before the trip. I took 137 images ( quite a few in Jill's for the diggers email ) reducing them to 27 images that I was reasonably happy with .

I did some minimal editing on the above. Straightening and cropping, reduced highlights on the close figure and a little cloning of the harsh shadows you get with a single flashgun. I could have done more in that respect but wanted it done by bedtime.

Fingers crossed -

Flickr is temporarily down for scheduled maintenance

Sad, sad panda wants photos!

As we previously announced, Flickr will be down for a few hours while we move a huge piece of infrastructure to our new hosting platform, but that’s no reason to frown. Go out and take some photos, then join the Flickr Good Panda photo contest.

You can also check https://status.flickr.net/ for updates.

All seems well at Flickr. Links OK. Photos not returned to a black hole.

The Ceiling Around photos were taken by Nigel with my camera. They had used Andrew's rope to ascend to the series high above TFD. As far as I know only four people have ever been up there.

Magic Smoke Dig ( MSD ) was never actually abandoned. It follows the phreatic sediments down a scalloped wall in the Frozen Deep. Hopefully ending up in a washed out area at the modern streamway. If I remember it currently ends some 12m above sump level. Our " Summer " dig at Vurley sort of took over.  Sadly there now seems to be little enthusiasm to return to MSD.

Like everyone else I feel its time that I ran this thread down. So I will stop at 1,500. I was tempted to put the most recent of my photos here but possibly wisely ran it as a seperate thread.

https://ukcaving.com/board/index.php?topic=25062.0

So starting the run in to 1,500.

Of course the big problem is remembering what I have already posted.

or 508 to make 2000.......?

Umm. No best I stop at 1500. Its so hard to keep track now.

So these from yesterday at Fairy Cave Quarry.

P6110013 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

A hard one to get to. Skyray far light.

Twisted.

P6110071 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

P6110066 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

Gorgive the focus here with super macro. These are almost as fine as horsehair.

P6110054 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

I do like these though its hard to get them right. Half the image is underwater, half above. An encrusted straw inside a basin. Found only by chance so never seen before.

P6110021 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

Learning the trade perhaps.

P6110107 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

The climb he did not like.

P6110095 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

P6110084 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

Still sparkle in places but the dust has taken a toll on main routes in places.

P6110060 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

P6110090 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

P6110128 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

P6110098 by Nicholas Chipchase, on Flickr

There now I have gone past 1,500. Yesterdays were stop and go. Nothing took more than a minute or two to set up. Skyray torch, Yongnuo slave and the old up TG 2. I did not use the camera flash exclusion box as back scatter was minimal.

So as far as images are concerned this thread has ended. Any more images will be on new threads. Thanks to my loyal fan club for the support. In a way its been a journey for me as well Looking back to the 1960's. Still thankful at 72 I can still get down a cave ( albiet a short one ). I now have to keep paying the hosting service the yearly fee. When I am gone I guess the thread will be too. Hopefully a few more years ---

Dont forget that camera -
