Mendip Rocks, Earth Science Lecture Day
Mendip Rocks are holding a number of presentations on Saturday 17th October as part of the Earth Science Week. Talks will include:-
Anjana Khatwa, award winning presenter and writer: "The Whispers of Rock: Stories from the Earth". Vince Simmonds, archeologist and cave explorer: "Echoes of the Ice Age: A Pleistocene Record from Mendip Cave Deposits" Of particular interest will be the recent find, the Woolly Rhino Skull that is now in Wells Museum. Owen Dukes - Geologist (Tarmac) "Mendip Mineral Resources"

There's always room for a little 'un! 
There is a blocked shaft, high up on the north side, about 50m NW of the Old Tor entrance, and higher still, near the prominent outcropping rib of rock - me and Scud had a look at it in the summer one evening. It wouldn't go into Old Tor, and from the remains left on surface it looked like it could be natural rather than mined - couldn't see any shotholes. That's the only one I know of that isn't logged. Apart from one I can't put in. The editor's decision is final
