After the last redundancy about a year and a half ago I bought myself an airbrush and now my other interest is mainly blowing paint at stuff.

I started this thread as a joke.

Well I'm glad you started this thread - fascinating what cavers get up to in their 'other' lives - and what a great post about all your hobbies OR, what an interesting chap you are  :)

Ganister would be my first thought, though I don't know whether you do get occurrences of it without a coal seam in association - I'm sure John Hunter would be able to tell you straight off. Otherwise, some sort of ironstone would be my next guess, maybe something that was originally deposited as bog ore and has now gone through the geological mill?

I just had a long and very detailed reply from John H on ganister (as you might expect), but the nub of it is - yes, it can be found without a coal seam, though that may be as the coal seam is very, very faint - he quoted an example of a 'pencil-thin' seam of coal on top of a relatively thick bed of ganister with visible root patterns in it. So now I have to go back with a brush and trowel ;)

I’ve been using the enforced lockdown due to Covid, to finish this corvid. Empty shotgun cartridges meet a glue gun.

Stunning effort! Well done.

I was wondering about making a sculpture from the millions of nitrous oxide cartridges I see on every street corner, until I realised that the weight would be an issue, never mind catching the lurgie from the scrotes who inhaled from them. They don't even take them at the scrappies unless they're flattened or sawn in half. There's an awful lot of good steel just lying around waiting for people to break their ankles slipping on them.

May not be such a problem in the countryside again ;)

I don't know.... go down that page of stock images and there are pictures of a herd of sheep with a collie.  Have they been inhaling?

It's a common enough hallucination, I believe. I blame Blue Peter ;)

I mentioned earlier I like mountain biking and pole fitness but forgot to mention that I cosplay occasionally. This is a costume I made a while ago. It's Corvo from Dishonored for the gamers out there who might recognise it  :)

That's what you get if you cross Bigfoot with an oystercatcher.   :)

Is that the latest anti-Covid model from Warmbac?  The full-face helmet seems to come with a built-in facemask.

Further to my post of May 3, this is the current state of play.

Bridge is in, and intentionally made to look like its supported on ropes, actually there is an angle bracket on far wall.

Now awaiting parts to build the watercooled LED lamp to light the place up , hopefully, like daylight.
May also try a grow light.
Waterfall will be built up in the far corner.
My avatar is a poor likeness.

Wow - fabulous bridge! All that's missing now is the soundtrack from 'South Pacific' playing in the background. Though I'll spare you the obvious YouTube link ;)
