An international expedition to Iran (ISEI) under the patronage of the
International Union of Speleology (UIS) is being prepared, following the initiative of Fadi Nader, Eric Vandenbrouck and Jean-Pierre Bartholeyns,  in September-October 2008.

If you want to participate, if you would just like to know more about
it, or if you wish to support or sponsor its realization and the help that
will be provided to local cavers, visit our Website:

Iran, as in the country against which US political rhetoric is escalating with hints of pre-emptive aggression a la the typical US "bomb the bastards" philosophy, perchance?

The pursuit of scientific knowledge must continue regardless of the idiotic masters acting like children.

Having said that, I wont be putting my name down. Not ready for that kinda thing yet.

Must it?

Love to see the small print in the travel insurance documentation accompanying the exped!

Acts of the un-godly are not covered as opposed to acts of god.... INFIDEL!

I'm sure you'd have no problems on the expedition....  it's mostly French and germans going, and they get along fine with the Iranians.

It's just the Brits and Yanks they hate  ;)

To paraphrase an arab proverb; "Arrive as a friend, be welcomed as a friend"

A friend of mine (yes - a Brit) was on a recent trp to Ghar Parau. No problems but best to stay "low key".
