    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

Do you need to book Alum Pot?

CNCC's website is great for showing current access arrangements.

https://cncc.org.uk/cave/alum-pot

as at 12 May 2021 the arrangement is as follows:
The caves of Alum Pot area (including Alum Pot, Long Churn, Diccan Pot, Borrins Moor Cave and others nearby) are either on, or often approached via private land and a small fee (one pound per person) is payable at Selside Farm. PLEASE NOTE; Since these caves reopened after the Covid-19 lockdown there is now a collection box positioned by the front door; please put your correct fee into the box without introducing yourself to the residents. It is advisable that just one person from the group enters the farmyard to make payment. Park responsibly on the green lane on the north side of Selside leading to the caves.

So as it stands there is no booking process (and long may that last!)
