Drill Battery question....

I want to replace an expensive broken Hilti charger with a standard charger. The charger is the Hilti C 7/36 ACS 7.2 - 36V NiCd NiMH Battery Charger. The drill uses 36V NiCd batteries

Would something like this replace the charger? If not any other options? I can find things which look hopeful - but they are in the US....

The first charger wont work, you need to be able to charge 30cells (30cells at 1.2v each gives 36v) and the maximum it provides would be 30v (1.2v*25).

I dont see why the second charger wouldn't work, assuming you can connect it to the battery pack okay. If I were you I would probably mutilate the old charger and add the connectors to the new one.

I'll have a look and see if I can find something in the UK that would be suitable that wont cost a fortune to import.

The batteries are 2.8Ah - will that be a problem with the AliExpress one?

i.e.

Charge battery pack: 28.8V-36V,24-30S, 4-20Ah

I would of thought it'd be fine. Bit confused why there would be a capacity rating on the charger, all that should matter is that the voltage is correct and the current rating isn't too high (which at 0.7C is fine).

Benfool - various chargers online appear to specify the min Ah rating of the batteries so Im inclined to think this is genuine concern....

Olly - Not anymore, down in Somerset. Will see if I can find anyone to look at the charger.

cheers

It seems to suggest that the charge rate ought to be 0.1-0.5 C, but since it claims to be an NDV charger then I would think a higher charge rate would cause no problems. As Benfool says, a rate of just under 0.7 C ought to be fine...  :-\
