Advice on acquiring digging materials (South Wales)

A group of us students from Cardiff uni caving club have just begun a new dig ( with updates on the Instagram account: cardifflithicinvestigation ) and obviously being students and therefore poor were wondering if any cavers had advice on where to acquire cheap/ free, used materials which are good for shoring up shafts such as scaff or scrap wood.

On top of this if anyone had any old stuff lying around at the back of a garage in the Cardiff/ South Wales area which could be useful then this would be massively helpful to us!

Thanks.
