Can someone confirm rope lengths to descend aquamole aven via the alternative pitches.

Have been down the first pitch a couple of years ago but didn't have sufficient rope to get to the bottom.

Also, any info on rigging the final drop would be helpful  (y)

If the standard Pitch 1 needs 80m [actually 70 will do], how come the alternative only needs 35m?  Is this a completely different pitch / entrance?

The alternatives are for the Aquamole Aven pitch, Pitch 4.

Entrance
Rabbit Graveyard
10m Pitch
Aquamole Aven  or Alternatives 1 and 2.

I've only been once and didn't go through the alternative route so not first hand at all.

I know your thinking of doing this tommorow but I don't think that the alternative pitch will be passible (at least on the way back up) with tommorows forcast. It's that pitch where all the water goes down, if you are meaning the pitch with the scaff bar across?

We had a go at Aquamole the  weekend before last (not the world's fittest party, though) and didn't get very far. We got as far as the largish ledge towards the bottom of the entrance pitch with a Y hang on the right , facing out. Janet went down, and rapidly came back up again. There was a lot of water coming down it, far more than we remember in the past and we said at the time that it seems as if something has changed and the flow has found a new channel.
