BCA Membership
Well-known member
Hi all,
This has been emailed to the club contact for all the BCA member clubs that are linked to Universities, however it is a time of year when University caving clubs often have a lot of change in membership so I thought I'd post here too, to increase the chances of the right people seeing it!
Dear University caving club,
This email is just to remind our BCA member clubs, who are linked to Universities, of the special arrangement BCA has for student clubs.
The BCA usually allows prospective club members to go caving on up to 4 trips, before needing to pay and join BCA. However BCA recognises recruitment is different for university caving clubs, and therefore prospective members with university clubs can be temporary members from the 1st September till the 31st December, without limit on the number of trips they can do.
Anyone caving with your club before the 1st September should be added and paid for, and anyone still caving with your club on the 1st of January 2025 needs to be added and paid for.
In order for your members to be considered temporary members of BCA you need to keep records of their details including name, address, date of caving trips and where they went caving. These should be sent to me at the end of the year for our records. A spreadsheet recording this information would be perfect - if you would like a template spreadsheet please email me.
More details can be found in our FAQs:

See questions 53 and 54 for prospective members and question 92 for the special arrangement for University Clubs.

If you have any questions or queries you can reply here or email me. But please note I work for the BCA part-time and have two other jobs, so may not reply immediately.
