BCRA Cave Surveying Group and Annual Review

As Editor of the BCRA Annual Review, I'm in the process of collating reports from the BCRA Special Interest Groups of their activities in 2023. The Review will be published late September / early October prior to the BCRA Symposium and AGM. Based on responses received it appears the Cave Surveying Group (CSG) is no longer active, and that there was no documented activity in 2023. Hence the entry in the Review will simply say that the former CSG is now dormant, and this will be reported to BCRA Council. If anyone does have any information on 2023 CSG activities, workshops, field meetings, please let me know ASAP, and if anyone would like to take on the running of this group, please contact the BCRA Secretary ASAP.

Thanks

The Cave Surveying Group is alive and well, although more people welcome. The report I sent in said that the CSG continues to run the Cave Registry Data Archive which has continued to expand. The Cave Survey Salon was run at HE, however I did not have details as I had COVID. The person who should have details was copied in and asked to report and is available on the HE website.
There was a meet in Frbuary 2023 that has already been reported to BCRA, so they have on record that the group is still active.
This year there is a cave survey meeting in South Wales which has been advertised through the mailing list and matrix group. It'll appear on here soon.

That's good to know, thanks - I got the impression the Data Archive was the only thing happening, but it's been difficult from my end to know of the activities. I don't have a report of the Feb 2023 meeting, but hopefully will have soon. Sorry if I jumped the gun a bit, but time is getting tight (for me!).

Our (ULSA) survey of Hammer Pot won last year's survey salon at HE. If appropriate we'd be more than happy to have a copy published in the review? I can send it to you if you want Phil. It's available online somewhere already but probably not easy to find as I can't remember where!

To be honest Rob, that's a really good idea, as we only usually publish the photo/art entries. Obviously it won't be that large in the magazine, but we can include a weblink alongside - and in the PDF version of the Review that can be a live link, obviously. Thanks for the offer.

Phil.

Grand nice one Phil, I'll send you the A4 version. We also have some photos from the surveying trips (though not taken in 2023) if they'd be of use?

Probably not, if not from 2023 - that criterion is quite strict, as I'm constantly being reminded. I already scaled the survey to A4, so don't worry ;)
