As I am currently, what I hope is temporarily, relatively immobile, I have taken the opportunity to attempt to make the Jack Myers Collection more accessible. Building on work originally done by Alan Jeffries, I have created a separate table of contents for the ten volumes of caving diaries, and added to each of the volumes a pull-down list to help identify the required pages. I trust this makes things easier to find. These caving diaries are fascinating, not only for recording the original explorations of places like Disappointment Pot and Stream Passage Pot, but also for the fantastic amount of work Myers achieved in some of the local mining areas, recording features which are now lost forever.
At the same time I have withdrawn two photograph albums of Scottish mountains from the collection, as they had no real relevance in a caving archive and consumed valuable storage.
Any comments welcomed.
