PLEAS NOTE, we had no intention of going caving we just went for a wonder to see the floods, safety was taken in the entrance to the churns to take the photo ,with no chance of being swept away

I was driving to Borrowdale on Friday night and I did wonder what state the caves would be in.
Now I know - very damp....

To complement paull's excellent pictures, here are two snaps from years ago ? 'before and after' as it were, the upper showing the Churns in normal conditions (on the off-chance that there are cavers out there who have never been there  :)), the lower in somewhat similar conditions to Friday evening:

I've always wondered about that New Houses ford - now I know - I guess I've never bothered to drive up there when it's a tad damp.
