Caving hut shower ratings

It’s been the longest and muddiest trip of your life and you’re trudging back to a caving hut. Which shower is it you’re dreaming of?

Inspired by a conversation where fellow cavers decided there was one stand out winner. I’m intrigued if the view is universal. Bonus points for left/right preference and men’s/women’s in the huts where they’re separated

Another vote for the YSS twin shower.

After a 6am trip to Dihedral in deep snow, I will admit to being rather chilled and that shower was most reviving.

The recipe for shower success is simple: hot water and lots of it. In general showers drawn from a hot water supply (e.g. TSG, SWCC, YSS showers near the front door) tend to do much better at this than your average hut's cheap electric shower. Electric showers do have the advantage of instant heat, however, and don't run out of hot water!

My favourite used to be the TSG, but the water pressure is a bit erratic when both showers are going.

The SWCC mens showers are also fairly sociable (though less than they used to be now there are also cubicles). Does the MCG still have the open showers as well?

I remember when YUCPC used to have an annual week in Wales staying at the Croyden CC cottage - we used to get 20+ people in that tiny hut astonishingly. The shower was a tiny cubicle with only a thin shower curtain wafting in the breeze to separate your modesty from those gathered drinking in the kitchen. More interesting was the presence of TWO showerheads in that tiny cubicle... I'm not sure two people would fit in there without copious amounts of physical contact... but perhaps that was the intention :ROFLMAO:

It was standard practice for most people to go the entire week without using the shower, and to instead have strategically timed trips to Little Neath or Porth-yr-Ogof for a wash instead.

What's this 'modesty' thing? :P

I think one is off the hot water and one was electric, so probably more of a backup than intending that you use both at once. Useful when one of your freshers goes in the shower first, takes 45 minutes, and uses up all the hot water before anyone else has a go...

Croydon CC shower is the worst (though who showers in the BEC)...

Many years ago I had the privilege/honour/misfortune (delete as appropriate) of sharing the BEC shower with Quackers!

I have put TSG on the top of this list as the water is hot, pressure is good as well as having loads of space. Plus you can have a seamless transition from toilet to shower . CSS also ranks highly as the water pressure is brilliant (maybe too powerful??).
