Cracked Leather Walking Boots

I've got some Meindl leather walking boots, they must be about 10 years old, but they are in reasonable condition apart from the leather has cracked on the side and they now leak. There are products available called "leather fillers" does anyone have experience of these, would a leather filler last any length of time on a walking boot? Or is there anything else that will stick to waxed leather and be flexible and waterproof?

You could nip into Nelson's cobblers in Settle (opposite the post office, if you happen to be there) and see if they can do anything. They're old fashioned, usually cheap and are pretty expert.
