Sorry to repeat some references, but I had them all together in another place.
There is also a write up in the latest CCPC journal (£3.00 from all good cavers called Ralph...). The trip cannot be described as safe or easy but has been eased with the placement of the wire traverses. Dinghies do not last well so take a new one each time...
This is NOT like a jolly round Knotlow, Hillocks or even Cwmorthin. There is real potential to end up "Charlie Delta" .
As Wormster and others have done, research the trip and go prepared. Good luck, you will enjoy it!

'Tis good thats for sure,

the only thing i would recommend is a steel wheeled pully for the travers and somd decent line to haul it back with.

just remember that the cieling is comming down in huge chunks, so mind how you go.

on the second descent don't be tempted to touch off on the big triangulr bit, its well dogy.

on the brige of death you only need the pully for the second half, first man takes it out.

otherwise its too much fun to tell all at once.

Nice one, was going to ask how it went. Got plans to go in the next few weeks. How was route finding?

We came out the twill in the dark, mist and rain,

t'would have been better to hop back in and come out the nine.

at least 1 wrecked boat by the BoD and a couple of other ones in the lake one by the far end landing and another off to the side.

Oh well, at least you have a good excuse to go back and do the route through to the 9. Glad to hear you got through OK without any major calamities - it is only an epic if you miss last orders! Hoping to have another look at that myself later in the year

hopefully another thro trip is in the offing in the comming 12 months, certain aged members of my family are keen to do this trip.

Is it a feasible route to follow with no prior experience of the mines? All i know is that gleaned from on here, and through the various links. It sounds like a turn-around late on in the trip would prove a bit of an epic? Can you reverse the wire zip-lines?

you COULD reverse the directions however the first zip line before the suspesion bridge would be uphill and the first srt would be a pain.

TT let me know when youre going and i'll try to organise a vanoord or simonrl or you could try to contact them direct via c**tplaces.

hope this helps.

I'm planning on going back sometime near christmas/New Year...drop me a PM if you fancy joining us...

Actually the route underground is pretty straight forward...its when you get abck above ground it all gets a bit trickey ;)

Jason, this is a trip I've had in mind for a long time and I wouldn't mind the chance of joining a group...especially if they know their way through!

Yeah guys you need to:

TAKE A MAP AND COMPASS to navigate the way in/out.

the wormster/vanoord by guess and god method's well tricky

Jason, let us know when you have thought of a date - as I said earlier I am hoping to do this again before the years end. Might take the drill and rig that second drop a bit better as well...

That would be a good idea Brains as the second drop is a pain for the first 10-15 feet down that slab.

I reckon the boulder belay is more than a bit dodgy as well - slate on slate, with a few crumbs to lubricate it and lots of sharp edges to chew on the rope, still it hasnt moved with a porker like me pulling on it, yet...

That second abseil was the only bit of the trip i didn't like...
I wasn't convinced as to how the rope had been rigged off the boulders and their were a couple of fiendish rub points on the way down too...

Ah, that second abseil. Needs bolting sooner rather than later - I've got some 12mm bolts and hangers, but a decent drill would be useful: the cord on mine isn't long enough...

I'm about between Christmas and new year ;)
