Dow Cave

The overhanging rocks at the entrance to Dow cave, Kettlewell have
finally collapsed. The cave is still accessible, but the entrance is
overhung by a "cornice" of turf and soil which is bound to collapse
over the next few weeks. Take care!

Went there the other day and had a look at the remains of the entrance to see how unstable it looked. Turned away to put my helmet on and a small rock fell down. Turned around rather startled and watched the entrance for a while but nothing happened. Turned away again for a second and another rock fell down! Waited a few minutes and scrambled down into the cave as quickly as possible. If outdoor centres continue to use it may need a bit of 'stabilisation' work.

any news on how it looks at moment? am planning a trip at weekend with a novice and don't want them to be put off by getting trapped by rockfall!
