First Underground Video Effort

Heyhey,

Long time reader, first time poster (after talking to some of the english
guys at SUICRO last weekend).

Just wanted to share a small bit of video I shot last weekend to try out
my new waterproof case for my video camera. (Sony HC96)
http://www.ucdcaving.com/reports.php?id=25

This was shot with just helmet light, granted one of the helmet lights was a
Scurion. We plan to shoot more in the future using three scurions. We
found the spot on full is too bright for the video in most cases, as it blows
out the hightlights too often. I suspect full power on spread LED, half power
on spot wouild be best. Further experiments will tell...

Excellent! It will be interesting to see the effect of more light but to my mind you captured the atmosphere of being underground very well indeed using just the one. That water doesn't look too good.

Excellent - thats what I was going for. I don't intend to
brighten up my underground videos too much, but it'll
be nice to have a few more decent lights to get a few
lighting options...

Thats nice, er what they 'playing' in at the end, were I come from that looks like cow piss scum, as found at sump1 of swildons.

Very well done, well edited too!
Wet yellow PVC oversuits will nearly always "burn out" on exposure set for the surrounding.
Keep playing, and good luck.

DP, it's nothing to do with cow piss scum; it's "soap" from the sap of macerated leaves aerated during flooding. Where did you get the piss scum idea from?

Excellent video, much better than most of my underground efforts :)

The music gave the whole thing quite a detached feel which is probably what you're going for but I think it would have been good to hear a bit more of the live soundtrack (like at the end) but hey, that's just my preference :)

yeah - good vid. I can foresee more of this kind of thing and technololgy moves on and gets cheaper.

One day - I'll get round to putting some of bubba stuff up on you tube.

Yeah, like it. I'll stick to stills though, my subjects get tetchy about appearing on any kind of media - ther'ed be a riot if I filmed them!

 I really enjoyed that well done, I know it's hard keeping the camera dry and mud free, so for the conditions I think that's an excellent piece of work. The music is about right for that length of film I think if had gone on for longer it would have become repetitive otherwise. You captured the essence of a really pleasent trip.
