Forgotten things?

I’ve done the camera memory card thing on a trip with @badger into Hagg Gill Pot. Having previously tried to find the cave with Paul Dold (and failed), we returned and after setting up various flashes and camera on tripod tried to take a picture to get the warning of ‘no memory card inserted’ - cue multiple years of pisstaking
Only got mentioned once or twice

Few weeks ago my mate left his oversuit at home inadvertently so i did dig surface and lent him my suit. Next week another pal left his helmet and lamp. Lended mine pm. Feeling smug the week after and all tooled up I reached for my grinder to sort some bolts on the conveyer belting. No locking ring. A kind pal went all the way back to my car to retrieve it while we replaced other bolts.

On a Berger trip i left camp one on my own to go to camp two with a rucksack full of rope, ladders with the rigging equipment required for the descent to the bottom.
Half way down the Grand Cascade my carbide light went out.
After fettling it i realised that it had ran out of carbide and that it required a refill. I reached for my spare on my harness, to my horror it wasnt there. Knowing that another team would be following me, i sat in the darkness in a wet, wetsuit for eight hours. When I was located l had mild hypothermia, but did continue onto camp two after having a brew.
This is definitely the forgotten item with the most peril story!

Trip to the Berger, got a lift with climbers heading to the Verdon Gorge. My wellies had a great holiday. My trainers did well but didn't come home after a visit to the pseudo syphon!
On a trip down Nettle Pot with Ralph Johnson we surveyed Crumble and Beza for the rigging guide while I was wearing a furry and fertilizer sack.
Good times... 😳

Wellies seems a commons theme. Forgot any footwear for a 3 day cave camp - ended up using my mates trainers, which I destroyed.

I'm sure if Sid Perou was still around (RIP and sadly missed), he would have one or two examples...

Reminds me of a university club trip to Disappointment Pot once, when I forgot that the two others didn't have their own SRT kits yet...
We managed to get to the bottom, on a shared SRT kit, with Pantin and Tibloc as a sort of half kit to aid passing bits up and down. The last pitch was hardest, but rigging the rebelay carefully gave enough slack to pull up the lower rope from the ledge.

Same trip, one of the guys was using club wellies and got two left wellies...
This was the first trip that I thought of when seeing this thread. It was overnight (I think we were trying to escape exam revision?), so drove down in the evening, got underground a bit before midnight, did Hensler’s crawl and Mud Hall to main chamber, and were out in time for sunrise and breakfast once back in Clapham. Stands out weirdly clearly in my memory - must have been a really excellent trip despite the faff 😉 (but then, I wasn’t the one with the two left wellies …)

Not forgotten, per se, but this summer KLM ‘misplaced’ half my luggage on the way to Slovenia. Did a week’s worth of caving in my hiking boots, a borrowed oversuit, and some quickly bought thermal underwear. At least helmet, lights, and SRT kit made it there, otherwise I’d been in trouble.
(KLM never managed to get the luggage to Slovenia, but ended but sending it back to Leeds, 2 weeks later. They covered £800 worth of replacement kit without complains, though 🤷🏻‍♀️)

I think it was post-exam celebration, but yes, it was an excellent trip! It was my first time down Disappointment and I didn't know exactly where it came into the system, so when I recognised where we were, and we got in a loop at the bottom, that really made the trip!

Not really forgetting kit, but having the wrong kit. I'm 6 foot 3 inches and had been caving one weekend with one of my friends who had got me in to caving and was around 5 foot 5 inches. The following weekend I was on Mendip with others and at Main's Barn found when getting changed I had my friends wetsuit... Opps! So I did the trip as far as sunp 1 and back any way with whatever I had on at the time. At least I had my own wellies.

Forgot my wetsuit on a trip to the end of oha a fellow caver who lived around the corner nipped home to pick his wife’s wetsuit for me( who is a lot slimmer than me) . It was a comedy sketch getting into it and after the trip i was like a bloody prune because of the size of the wetsuit. 10 hour trip

I once rocked up at Malham Cove without my sidemount harness. They all laughed. I had to cobble topgether a makeshift one with bits of diving line (I kid you not). It was a bit numb but it did work and I got the dive done.

Not my fault but...someone picked up my wellies from the changing room (that pair you know you can wear for days and won't suffer and had been in lots of caves with you) and left a pair that were too tight and too short. Still moan about it :ROFLMAO:
