Awesome! Must've taken ages to produce that!  Great to see snapshots of all the brilliant stuff people are doing all over the world...

Don't think I'd ever want to go to Burnley again if i can help it! The high security fence was clearly there for a reason.

Well, I went for a wander round on Saturday evening, and saw nothing and no-one that made me think 'That security fence is clearly there for a reason'. I had a delicious curry served up by a bunch of friendly, amiable guys.

I also went out for a curry on Sat night and encountered a scary looking drunken rabble ....

.... the BPC don't half look rough, but they're good company

If you go onto most schools/ colleges you will find that sort of fencing around them - I used to work for a local authority and each year we spent about  at least ?1/2m each year. Usually to keep undersirables out. Admitedly that was a 6th form college but with child protection issues most schools are like fort knox nowadays in order to keep kids in and to protect them from all the families issues you can imagine it all stems from that teacher that was stabbed in wolverhampton area  protecting a child several years ago

I similarly worked for a local authority at the time it seemd almost every school was adding security fencing, mainly I think in response to parent pressure more than anything else.

Interestingly one headmistress whose school gate was at the end of a long dead end asked us to install higher fencing on top of the playground wall you had to walk past to get to the entrance. I thought this was for a similar purpose but it turned out the school had a problem with parents throwing their small children over the wall to avoid walking with them all the way to the entrance

Sounds like a good event for Sports Day!

Just to pitch in.
The schools facilities were excellent in the layout this year, that we had 4 lecture theatres/space, there was a great social space around the bar for those who wanted to gather (thats what conferences are for; networking) plus an opportunity to jump around, stomp, rave, dance, whatever, + remove your tshirt, and erm socialise if you wanted, plus an outdoor area outside the bar; we even managed a beer in the sunshine! Space for the photo/art salon to have an opportunity to show its importance for once and a great trade hall with space for the srt and artificial cave.
What more do you want?

Imho this was one of the better venues

Its hard to cater for over 1000 delegate days for a lively crowd who want to hang from the rafters, party all night, are noisy until the early hours, park up, camp on the lawn and pay 2 squids for their beer.  Credit to the organisers in my opinion.

That fencing was laugthable, some of it it had a foot gap under it!. Even the fattest caver would have gotten through.

Sid said a mate of his weighs about 185lb.  He used to have quite a bit of trouble on ladders and SRT owing to his shape, but after a couple of the Eldon lads helped him through that tight slot in Baggers, he's had no trouble since.

Mind you, he's now 7' 1" tall.....

Just a brief note to say thanks very much to Les for posting the link to the opening A V presentation at the BCA Conference. (Chris made a grand job of putting it together.)
