Hose in Mincemeat Aven, Notts 2

Anyone know who to get in touch with re the piles of hose in Mincemeat Aven in Notts 2/Committee Pot? It’s been there, seemingly untouched for years. If it’s not still in use, perhaps it’s time to remove it. I’m happy to coordinate removing it, as long as I’m not stepping on anyone’s toes. Ta

I have it on good authority that the pile of tat at the bottom of the aven was a collection of all the crap from the cave, put there in the hope that others involved would chip in and bring it out bit by bit. That never happened. So no, organising a clean-up would definitely not be stepping on anyones toes.

Super, I’ll sort out a cleanup trip then, thanks!

Edit: I’ve emailed the CNCC conservation officer about arranging collection of the stuff once it’s out of the cave. Once I’ve got the details sorted for that, I’ll arrange a trip to haul the stuff out. If anyone’s interested in helping, please let me know! It’ll probably be a weeknight trip, to avoid getting in the way of people trying to use the cave on a weekend. We’ll probably end up blocking up the entire scaffolded shaft with the hauling

I've taken out a good few sections of the 'abandoned' firehose in the past couple of years. The hose itself isn't really a problem to get up to the surface, but the connectors catch and jam on absolutely everything. Probably best cutting them off, bagging up, then hauling separately. Don't mind helping, but won't be 'match fit' for a good few weeks yet.

If the date works, I'd be up for lending a hand if someone doesn't mind giving me a lift. Cars are warm in winter. Motorbikes aren't (I'm going soft in my old age).

I’m planning on removing the horse tomorrow (Friday 29th), meeting at 18:00 on the fell. Currently samouse1 is coming along — it would be handy to have one or two others so there are some extra hands. Anyone keen? I can give lifts in the local area, but am heading to BPF afterwards so can’t do return lifts to far away.
