    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

I think the last "undiscovered" cave just got discovered (UFS) but I am happy to be proved wrong (again)  ;)

That was just a small side passage, I am sure there are more systems to come  :coffee:

Do you mean this small side passage:

In fact you could be right - I believe the main passages are up to 75 feet high.

Well in answer to the original question

I don't know. However I have been recently had my misguided view that the answer could be " Not as many as the dales" corrected By Mr Burgess of 12 Mendip street Mendips and of cource his side-kick Graham.
They have kindly informed me that in fact the despite the dales having multiple Guide books and the mendips only having a small guide pamphlet, the mendips has more caves and more educated cavers

You learn something every day

Or to put it another way

Should be Mendip not Mendips (or Mendip's even!!!) and "has" would probably be ok if we conclude that Mendip is a singular region!

[pedant]"The Mendips", according to this pedant (me) who doesn't really care anyway, are "the Mendip Hills" plural. When referring to the Yorkshire Dales, we don't say that we are visiting "The Yorkshires", although we might say we are going to "Yorkshire".

So we should say "Mendip", not "The Mendips", or we could say "The Mendip Hills".[/pedant]

But in contradiction, The Pennine Hills are usually known as "The Pennines" (plural)

The Axbridge Caving Group are still (since 1950) hoping to find
The Lost Cave of Axbridge,
for some years, we thought that Shute Shelve Cavern was it.
Now we don't think that, we think it is still              "In hiding"

awaiting a highly skilled A.C.G. digging team to unearth it
