Illusion Pot

A group of BPC members went down Illusion Pot on Saturday 21st September one of the bolts securing the entrance pitch ladder had pulled out of the rock and could do with replacing.

We had to spend quite a while baling the sump, the weather forecast was good but take care if there is risk of rain.

The hangers and maillons at the top of the Brunel Rift Traverse are badly rusted and almost worn through, the maillons definitely need replacing and the fixed rope along the traverse has been in place for many years and it would be good to replace that too.

There’s some diving going on at boot trapper sump at moment, I have a load of rope not doing much, I’ll likely replace that traverse line next time I’m in. Looked like a good trip from the pics I’ve seen

@LadyMud @Ian Ball @terrybpc Reported to CNCC. If I get chance to replace bits and bobs next time I’m in I’ll post on here. Could be a good test for the new cordless grinder and a cutting disc!

I think this would be approved (next meeting is October). JAA please do replace any rigging gear. But please don't cut anything off, we may be able to get hold of what is left and pull it out and reuse the old hole. If anyone has a photo of how the ladder is attached or not that might enable the right tools can be taken and the job being done in one go.
