If you are doing LLC - Alum via the "Greasey Slab Alternative" take care! If you are on the final bolt of this pitch look to your right-the boulder there is rather precarious (some of it has already fallen away) if it falls anyone on the pitch will suffer serious injury (or worse) and the resulting rubble will almost certainly go down the main pitch making you rather unpopular with anyone below!

Thanks for the info. I take it you mean the rebelay bolt?

I must admit I'd not noticed any problem. I'll have a look next time I'm there.

Not done the alternative way yet!

Is there a lot of loose crap or just a boulder and would it be best to encourage it to go rather than waiting?

There is at least one boulder that should probably be heaved over the edge when no one's about. I did that route on the last bank holiday monday and a 12" square block of stone detached itself from the main rock just as I was passing. Although I was caving alone, there were others in the cave and I didn't know where they were so I guided the block onto the horizontal ledge and wedged it in so that it would be unlikely to go by accident. I think it would be much better lobbed off.

I had a good, long look at the offending boulder today and, although some rock has obviously fallen away in the past, to my untrained eye (and foot) it is all pretty solid.

I, for one, am more than happy to continue using this route.
