Pink Pillar Chamber.

I came across this recently. As far as I know only a handful of people know where it is. I want to keep it that way due to the rare mud and crystal floor deposit.

Here is one from my SW Australia trip. The Gloucester Tree, Pemberton.

Nearly 60m up to the top platform. Not a cave but it makes one realise that a head for heights in the daytime is nothing like the same as a dark cave. Yup just made it with wobbly legs.

Trouble is I have so many of Withyhill over many years that I tend to forget where in the cave they were taken. Some subjects are found by chance like Pink Pillar Chamber. Some macro shots are long forgotten places mainly off tourist routes.

I tend to leave caver subjects out of many pretty shots. With such beautiful things a caver can be a distraction. Mostly scale can be seen particularly when straws are present.

Oh dear. I seem to have an endless fascination for digging photos. I love the concept and the ability to do things differently with simple lighting. I have a " thing " about scaffolding. I do hope its not unhealthy. Anyway it all gets me out of actually doing any work for a couple of minutes. ( for which I constantly get abused. ) I think Vurley must hold the record for the most photographed cave per square metre in the world. Must have over a 1,000 images of this 200m ( ish ) long cave. Now that may well be an unhealthy obsession.

Well I had a pint of shandy today in the Hunters. Sadly I am now wrecked. Torn some muscles in my back hauling boulders about in Vurley. Well I can mention a certain friend who broke his leg caving solo in Swildons. Took an hour to crawl out of the entrance series and another hour to crawl across the field. No names of course from me.

That's a relief, OR, to read that you did your back in hauling boulders about and not by lifting that pint of shandy!

On a more serious note, do be careful - it's so easy to do your back in, especially as Anno Domini takes its toll. Rest up and get well soon.
