Pdhms website would be perfect

An online home for this? In addition to the one we've already got?

I suspect that what AR means is a web page that can be searched for and found as opposed to a DropBox folder where you need to know the address even before you go looking.

A permanent home would also imply that the files themselves were hosted somewhere that did not depend on a personal account. To my mind, the PDMHS site would be the obvious place to start looking for material such as this.

Graham has pretty much summed up my thinking; although this thread may come up on a search it would be good to have  a compact and collected location for them, plus I'm a great believer in having stuff like this in more than one location.

I'm afraid it won't be particularly quick as I've not been able to devote enough time to building the new site as I'd like but I'm working on the "resources" section as and when I get chance. A question - does anyone have a good photo of Nellie Kirkham that I could use?

The BCA host a number of sites on their server at reasonable cost.
It would be appropriate to speak to them about web space for this project rather that hitching it onto a club site.

In the first instance contact "Cooky"

The PDMHS site would be ideal

It is already a valuable resource for local mines (I've managed to identify initials down one mine using it) and the addition of these notes can only enhance that.

Thank you to all involved for your efforts.

Given the bulk of the material relates to mining  in the Peak, why would it not be appropriate for it to be hosted on the website of the mining history society Nellie Kirkham joined shortly after its formation in 1959 and remained a member up until her death?

Box 5 has some good stuff on Hazard & Hollandtwine (HollowTwine?) including a map marking Hollandtwine on page 100. Plus a poignant moment - the passing of Eli Simpson (Cymmie/Simmie(sic)) in 1962.

I've started with Box 7 and i'm slightly wishing I hadn't!

There's a lot of Weighty legal Stuff Regarding the Bagshaw Estate and also lots of information about the documents that sheffield library hold, Presumably as notes towards the law suit. so not much actual detail, although it could be in there somewhere!

7.66 onwards is a lovely document :)

Not quite sure i'm doing it justice, so once i've done the excel sheet it might well need some adjustment.

Great work Alastair. And if in doubt, include any info you can, especially when there's gold in there like this!

I'm working on box 9 and will hopefully post contents list tomorrow. I'll have to have a look at box 7, sounds like 7.66 may be a copy of the Dawson plan of Whale Sough.

This is absolutely brilliant stuff!  Many thanks to all those involved in making sure this material is not lost and is accessible to cavers in the future.

Once everything is organised and a permanent host site found (I agree that PDMHS sounds a good one to go for) I would like to include reference to this as part of the British Caving Library [BCL] website links.  I am tentatively looking to set up a "database" of caving/mining archives:  i.e. a list of existing archives and where they may be found, on-line or not.  There are stacks of archives held by libraries, museums, caving clubs, etc. and it would be good to have, hosted on BCL's website, a complete list of what these archives are and where cavers can access them.  It's in the blue-sky planning stage at present and I'm aiming to put it to the BCL Steering Group at our next meeting so any comments would be welcome - PM me please.
