Peak District Rigging Guide. CCPC

Last time I was there was with Ralph and Ross, not long after bolting it. Not sure but I think Ross put some in way out in the rift above the first big chamber and peeps said they couldn't find them again. Topo shows a rebelay near there but I think that may be a replacement set?
Good question. Honestly, I've no idea. It's been a long time since I have been there.

The individual pdf files for the various caves and mines should also now download in portrait orientation too for all the pages in each one. Topo(s), Key and Safety pages. Again, this should get round the occasional printing problems with pdfs with a mix of portrait and landscape oriented pages within a single file. All automated as the files are generated after an update.

Hopefully posting on the correct thread..........

Is the CCPC web site down or is it an issue at my end? (I've tried a few links, googled etc but all I get for my efforts is -

Hmmm… can't reach this page

www.ccpc.org.uk took too long to respond

Thanks

I'm afraid it is down at the moment. A problem at the server end. I can't FTP in to it either. I have emailed the person who arranges the hosting. Hopefully get it up again as soon as we can.
Apologies for the inconvenience. First time we have had a problem like this in years.
Archive.org have a snapshot from July, which should do, unless you need one of the recent updates.

The Crewe web site and the Rigging Guide are back again. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by their disappearance. The time of year, holidays and people being away meant some delays in resolving the problem.

The Carlswark Cavern Eyam Dale Shaft topo has been updated for the new and replacement anchors recently installed by the DCA.
There is also a new topo for the cliff descent route in Eldon Quarry to reach the bench where the entrance to Sidetrack Cave is located.

A small update. The true second pitch in P8, where you follow the stream, rather than traverse over the top, now has a longer rope recommended. Not many people rig this. Most traverse above stream level from the first pitch and either rig the Iron Ladder pitch, or carry on at high level to Mud Hall.

There is now a topo for Cussey Pot in Eyam. Only the route to Inglorious Bastards so far. The one to Rocky Horror will have to wait till we get a chance to do the trip. In the mean time, there is the DCA topo. Thanks to the EPC for letting us use their survey as a basis.

The Hillocks/Whalf Topo has been updated and tidied up. The top of the Whalf climbing shaft now shows the scaffold bar main belay and a tree for backup. The ambiguous anchors at the top of the engine shaft have been clarified. The passage shape and anchor positions for the hand picked shaft in Hillocks now better reflect reality.

For any one thinking of descending the Whalf engine shaft, be warned. A herd of bovines have been been using the shaft top as a toilet and the area is currently ankle deep in liquid cowsh!

Removed pitch lengths from the downstream pitches of the Winnats Head Cave topo. One of these showed a 30m pitch with a 23m rope. Clearly wrong and a mistake that has crept in at some point. The rope lengths are known to be good and since pitch lengths are not essential to know, they have been removed for now. They have been kept for the upstream pitches, as these are on fixed ropes and were checked within the last few years.

Some updates to reflect anchor improvements carried out by The DCA in recent months. Thanks to Jess Eades, Martyn Grayson, Phil Wolstenholme and Pete Knight for checking the topos. The "What Can I Rig?" data file for Derbyshire has been updated accordingly.

  • Snelslow Swallet now has rigging information for entering via the top shaft.
  • Eyam Dale House Cave shows the extra deviations introduced to reduce rope rub in the entrance shaft.
  • Hungerhill Swallet shows the rebolting carried out to replace the exploration concrete screws with resin anchors. Note that some rope rub still exists in Deep Space that will need rope protectors. The rock is highly fractured and loose.
  • Knotlow Cavern has updates to the rigging of the Climbing and 210' shafts, with their surface stake backup anchors and to the Chain Passage route in to the 210' shaft.
  • A topo has been added for the Streaks Pot Upper Entrance, in Stoney Middleton, which now has DCA anchors. For now, this just shows the rope. An indication of the passage will follow, once a visit has been made with a sketch pad.

Interesting, I had no idea it covered Derbyshire, I think you've just accidentally revealed a secret

The description is "Enter the ropes you have and find out what trips you can go on (in the Yorkshire Dales)."
Nothing Derbyshire to see here, move along 🤐 😉

There is a drop down menu, with the choice of the Dales, Derbyshire and Scotland. The embedded version on the Crewe Rigging Guide page defaults to Derbyshire, with the option of lesser regions available.
