Petzl Duo S & Z2

Anyone used either of these? They look quite nice for caving.

Interested particularly in the adaptive brightness tech, as some sources suggest it only works with other DUO users...?!?

I had one of the AA ones on test for a month a while back and quite liked it.
The dimmer function did work (sometimes) when facing a group of clients using Pixa 2 lamps and occasionally when looking at shiny wet rock. Seemed to work fine when I was with another Duo user.
I'm happily back with my Scurion now but I did actually buy the Duo I was using at a discount and use it as a hill light. Well, will use it as a hill light if I ever do anything above ground these days.
You'd be welcome to borrow it for a play sometime.

Thanks Pete. So it didn't dim with other (non-Petzl) users?

Was it easy bright enough to cave with?

I can't imagine that it would only dim with other petzl users, surely it's just got a light sensor (or similar tech) in it and it dims it appropriately?

not even sure how it would differentiate between different light brands?

I got one for my son (the AA version). It's good to cave with, much better than the old Duo, or even a Duo with an insert such as I once used, and the battery life is way better than with other AA lamps. Overall a pretty decent product.

It might have, but I was only using it for work trips at that time with punters wearing Pixa lamps. I still used the Scurion for personal trips because, why would I not!
Easily bright enough to cave with.
