Please Help Make A Clean-Up List!

Aha, ex UEA:

I wonder how many of these are still going from 2008?
Answer - Bracknell, Bradford, BEC, black rose, Cambridge & University, Cerberus, cheddar, Chelsea, craven, Crewe, Derbyshire, Devon, Dudley, Durham uni, (Eldon has link to new site), Gloucester (but classed as unsafe), Grampian, great orme, Hereford, imperial college...

Bar Pot; stuff on awkward to get to ledges on the big pitch.

I cleared up Bar Pot every year for about 30 years, but it has been impractical to do for the last couple. It used to get particularly bad between October and December for some reason, with masses of sweet papers accumulating at the bottom of the Big Pitch. I know that @s_allshorn removed some rubbish last year, in particular a boiler suit on one such ledge that had been evading me for a long time.

I'm hoping that normal service will resume when I get a new ankle.

MNRC, Morley, northern Pennine, north Wales (also not considered safe!), Oxford uni, Pendle, Plymouth (although Chaffagraffix no longer exists), red rose, shepton mallet, south Bristol, south Wales, swaledale, TSG, Tunnel Research and Exploration Group, ULSA, Wessex, Westminster, white rose, pengelly trust, York uni and YSS all still have working websites on those addresses!

Darfar, Hades, Manchester uni & masson updates in discussion don't work either, but Mendip caving group does, as does ISSA (most of the comments no longer apply to any of them though). Others have replaced their websites, whilst some no longer exist

Indeed; you've done a cracking job for a long time. (Sam did well an' all.)

The rubbish I had in mind is stuff that's been dropped down through the boulders at the head of the big pitch. You can see it off to the right from a few metres down the rope but it's not too easy to get over to. A litter picker might help reach the stuff? Or dislodge it with a long stick and collect from the bottom of the pitch?

I know the stuff - it can't be retrieved by hanging upside in the boulders at the top, and it can't be retrieved from below when hanging on the rope! You're absolutely right - a litter picker would probably sort the problem

Anyway, if Chris isn't inclined to promote/ update the list for Descent, perhaps space doubt caver, or somebody else, would take on contacting each club to find out if they are still checking sites & whether there are ones that they would add (also a couple of individuals - Iain Barker and Andy sparrow)...

MCG still cover pinetree and upper flood, but not so much Nancy camel and Longwood, so Stainsby's shaft and maybe Lionels might be more appropriate

Yeah that sounds like a plan, I'll contact each club and confirm it 💯😎

As an update to the list - Slaughter Stream Cave and Redhouse Lane Swallet are looked after by FoDCCAG (as C&A I've personally been involved intensively the last couple of years). The FoDCCAG member clubs are RFDCC, GSS and Hades. All of these are listed as responsible for cleaning Otter Hole, and this is still current.

Any locations that you think should be added to the list, please let me know

I have a full active spreadsheet, if you would like to help out furthering the information i have, and getting clarity, Direct Message me and i can add you to the list of people who can edit,

I do plan to send this to secretaries of caving clubs, so they can edit & fill in any information on their clubs conservation activities.

If you are already a secretary for a caving club, feel free to directly Message me, for access to the spreadsheet

So the information I am looking for in their categories on the spreadsheet is as follows:

Cave or Mine? - is the named location a cave or a mine?

Access Status? is it any of the following - Unknown, Open Access, Open Gated Access, Locked Gated Access, Club Access, Derbyshire Key, Landowner Dispute.

Which of the following does the named location have - Spraypaint? Rubbish? Both?

Maybe you have personally been looking after a location, or maybe with a club, and have been/are cleaning it up, let me know. I will add said location and your efforts to the list.

Please help me add locations that should be on the list.

All help and information is greatly appreciated

Thank You
SDC
